Okay! So, July 1st Noam and I were supposed to have moved into our new place but we didn't actually get our stuff officially in all of the rooms (because the landlord was still painting and doing electrical work in our various rooms! The ONLY great thing is that we got a brand new 5 burner stove, dishwasher (never had this before now) and refrigerator that makes ice- whee. All in a delightful black tone ) until the 8th of July. Noam and I made our first big purchase, our king size bed that has been fabulous- only I don't recommended waiting money on this company's sheets: http://www.dreamfit.com. Noam thought it would be a sweet surprise to have these ready for our bed when it was delivered. It was , short of the fact that there was only 1 pillow case in the package and the sheets themselves started to "bleach themselves" weird artsy colors after a night's sleep. it's not like we go to bed wearing bleach PJs so I haven't a CLUE what the heck happened to the sheets. I've NEVER had an experience with sheets that turned colors after I slept on them- and it happened on both sides of the bed, but mostly mine. SO WEIRD. I went to a Linen Outlet down the street and purchased $20 sheets for a Cal King bed and VOILA! perfect no trouble sheets. Goes to show you that paying more doesn't necessarily mean you're getting more for your money these days, it just seems to prove what kind of sucker you are for the marketing!

The purchases today included 4 cool kitchen chairs (we still have to find a great kitchen table that measures at least 31 inches width and 48 inches in length- or something similar if it is a round instead of rectangular one.

We also got a beautiful room divider out at the Rose Bowl Flea Market (as well as both getting crazy sunburns to make us look Hillbilly crazy) --The divider is a beautiful (HEAVY) Maple wood with iron hand painted elephants embedded in between the various slatts. This type of divider usually runs around $300-$500 even down in Mexico but we got ours at a steal for $75! There is a designer who Noam knows working with us, so when I texted him the photo of the divider, he texted back, "So...you guys want to go Moroccan?" Who said we wanted to do that? I think we can work around the colors in the piece and then develop a cool structure with furniture around it. We'll see. This is all so new to Noam and I!

Now comes the part I have to work at ...posting photos for y'all to actually SEE: xo ~E
PS- I've included the various rooms in our place- The living room, hallway past kitchen, Noam's office (with Noam peeking out from behind his desk working), the master bathroom that was newly built for the duplex, my housewarming gift- a 2 toilet paper roll/Magazine wrack from Pottery Barn. The washroom, guest bathroom and then my office which leads out to the backyard (under construction too.)

Hi - the place looks really nice. Robin wanted to see too so if you can send her the invite that would be cool. I was telling her about it.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny On January 1st 2010 looking back at this- thank heaven for blogs these days as the visual along with literary documentation to see where we've been is eye opening. I'll be updating this blog(FINALLY) and hopefully Robin is able to see this- pretty sure she'd been sent the invite but I'll double check- Robin is "Ninja on line"- she swoops in and out and leaves no carbon footprint in the cyber zone! Robin, are you there?
